FOREIGN EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Art is a universal language that touches everyone no matter what, age, nationality, religion or political beliefs. It is through the Arts that the world’s societies are enriched and differences dissolve. The Foreign Exchange Program “Dance in Italy” is in its 5th Edition. This program gives talented young Ballet students the opportunity to study in an intensive Ballet program in Italy with such renowned Masters such as Margarita Smirnova, Svetlana Pavlova Bolshoi Ballet, (Moscow, Russia), Artistic Director Pavlova Ballet Academy and Company Balletto di Lombardia), and many more coming from such famed Ballet Academies such as the Bolshoi Academy (Moscow, Russia) and La Scala (Italy’s major Opera and Ballet Theater). All students are accepted through an audition process given by our Artistic Director Amelia Wanderlingh, in order to establish the students’ actual level of preparation and if the student would benefit from a program of this nature. With the collaboration that began in 2006, with the Pavlova Ballet Academy located in Bergamo, Italy; is proud to be able to offer to ballet students between the ages of 10-20 the opportunity to study abroad with the amazing faculty and Guest Teachers of this extraordinary highly professional school of Classical Ballet. The Foreign Exchange program is divided into 3 sessions Spring, Summer and we are happy that from 2009 the Pavlova Academy (www.pavlova.it) will open it’s doors to those North American students as well as students from other countries interested in a Post-Secondary Program and the possibility to perform with the newly formed Balletto di Lombardia, thanks to the collaboration with the . The first students to be accepted into this program are: Ayumi Uemura (Japan), Kazuho Yagi (Japan) and Zak Ward (Canada). These young artists will also be participating in the series of performances done by the Balletto di Lombardia in July at the Ballet Festival in Pescara, Italy. EUROPEAN PROJECT – As of 2009, through the invitation of Prof. Maurizio Guasco the is actively working along with many European Schools, Master Teachers, choreographers, National and International Competitions in the creation of foreign exchanges of Artistic Manpower in order to be able to offer to young students and teachers the possibility of studying, working and being introduced to the most qualified people in the Dance Arts. Thanks to this European Project is now opening opportunities of foreign exchanges to students that are interested in Modern and/or Contemporary Dance. The first of these exchanges will be taking place in the Summer of 2010. More information as to auditions, and details of these programs will be available shortly. of participation. Tuition Scholarships are available through audition.
