BALLET COMPETITION FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

REGULATIONS
Art. 1) The finale and GALA PERFROMANCE will be taking place in:
Muskoka, Ontario, 10-11 May 2008 at the Algonquin Theatre
During the Gala Event the winners of the scholarships will be announced.
Art. 2) In order to facilitate the audition process each participant must send a DVD of the following:
  1. A short Barre.
  2. Center including: Adagio, Combinations with Pirouettes, Grand Tours, Petit Allegro, Grand Allegro.
  3. According to the category variations from the Classical Repertory and 1 free Variation.
    Those students that prefer to attend personally the audition held in Muskoka on May 10, 2007 must specify in advance.
Art. 3) The finalists chosen will perform in the Muskoka GALA on Sunday 11 May 2008.
Costumes are obligatory for the Gala Evening.
Art. 4) The Auditions are open to young ballet students between the age 13*-20 years of age.
Art. 5) All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or a teacher.
Art. 6) DIVSIONS:

Junior Division: 13 to 15 years old *
Seniors Division: 16 to 17 years old
Semi-Professional: 18 to 20 years old

* The candidate must turn 14 years old by June 30, 2008
Art. 7) Registration Fee for all students is $60.00. The chosen finalists will pay additional $100.00 as entry fees for the finals. Registration fees are not refundable in any event. Registration and DVD must be in our office by 3 March 2008. All participants will receive a “Yes”/“No” by email no later then Apr 25, 2008.
Art. 8) Each participant must provide the following documents:
  1. Birth Certificate
  2. 1 Photo in Dance Apparel, 2 full length photos ( 1 in first position and 1 in battement
  3. Registration Form tendue a la second )
  4. Exclusion of liability Form IC 85-08
  5. Money Order or Certified Cheque for $ 60.00 payable to and sent by mail to:

Art. 9) As this is an Audition-Competition for Scholarships, the program is as follows:

JUNIORS:   1 Classical Variation from Repertory + 1 of own choice*
SENIORS:   2 Classical Variations + 1 of own choice
SEMI-PROFESSIONAL:   2 Classical Variations + 1 of own choice
Art. 10) The choreographies for the candidate’s choice variation must not be longer then 5 minutes.
All candidates must provide their own music on CD, to prevent confusion, they must be clearly labeled with the candidate’s name, number and dance discipline.
  • *The candidate may perform a Jazz or Modern-Contemporary piece.
  • Pieces of Hip-Hop, Funk, etc. will not be accepted.
Art. 11)
Art. 12) A Special Award in honor of Canada’s famed Ballerina EVELYN HART, will be given to the most outstanding student of the entire event, Round Trip Airfare to Continental U.S.A.
Art. 13) At the discretion of the Jury, additional prizes may be given to participants who have distinguished themselves during the audition process. These prizes will be such things as Ballet scholarships, workshops, or cultural exchanges in Canada or abroad.
Art. 14) The Vancliffen Arts Foundation reserves the right to cancel the Audition-Competition in the case there is not a sufficient number of participants by March 3rd, 2008. In that case, all registration fees received will be returned.
Art. 15) The Artistic Director of the Vancliffen Arts Foundation, reserves the right to make any necessary changes to these regulations. If changes are made, all participants will be notified.
Art. 16) In the case of any disputes, the law of Ontario, Canada, will prevail.
Art. 17) Unless expressed in writing, registered participants automatically authorize the organizer of this event to freely use their photos and personal data to promote events in advertisements according to the law of Province of Ontario and accept these regulations in each article and its contents totally.
Art. 18) This event is presented in conjunction with “To The Xtreme Dance Competition“.
